Shortbread cookies are a classic dessert known for their buttery, crumbly texture and delicate flavor. These cookies are easy to make and take less than 25 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until well combined.
Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture and mix until a dough forms.
If desired, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter. If you don't have a rolling pin or cookie cutter, you can drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
Bake the cookies for 20-25 minutes or until they are lightly golden around the edges.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
