How are your products made?

Our cookie cutters are made using a quality 3D printer. Our silicone mold designs are 3D printed and then cast to make a master for the silicone mold design to be made over and over. The rest of our products (Stencils, Cake Toppers, Rolling Pins, and Acrylic Stamps) are all cut using a quality laser.

What materials do you use?

At JB Cookie Cutters, we stick to high-quality and eco-friendly compounds. For cookie cutters, we use PLA plastic that’s good for the environment and biodegradable. Our experts use food-rated plastic for stencils and top-quality silicone for silicone molds. We make sure to use durable acrylic for our rolling pins, cake toppers, and acrylic stamps. All products have their respective materials listed in their descriptions.

What is the size of
your cookie cutter?

The beautiful thing is you can choose the desired cookie cutter size! Our products are typically measured by the longest side of the design (either by length or by height). Our cutters are photographed on a grid (shown in inches) to help you determine the size you require. Depending on the product, you could choose the following options:

  • 1-inch
  • 2-inch
  • 3-inch
  • 4-inch
  • 5.5-inch
  • 7-inch
  • 9-inch
  • 11-inch

Thanks to this vast selection, it will be easy to find your favorite size. And you can always order multiple sizes! If you require more precise measurements for your project, please be sure to contact us.

My font cutters aren’t measuring
the size I purchased, why is that?

Fonts are different styles of writing letters and numbers. As with all art, an artist can choose however they’d like to convey their style. Because of this, there are innumerable styles with different line widths, letter shapes, and overall sizes. To keep to the style of the original font, our lowercase sets are designed to go with our uppercase sets in the same way you are currently reading these letters on your screen.

You wouldn’t want your lowercase “a” to be the same height as the uppercase “A” right? Our 2-inch lowercase will go with our 2-inch uppercase (even though the lowercase letters will not measure 2 inches in height). If you ever find yourself needing exact measurements for your lowercase font, please be sure to contact us.

How to use
cookie cutters correctly?

You can use our cookie cutters on different products, such as cakes, cupcakes, cookies, sandwich cookies, candy apples, sandwich bread, pancakes, etc. Some customers use them when scrapbooking or making soaps and candles. The process is the same – press the cutter into the dough or another substance to get the desired form. Now, slowly remove the cutter to ensure you don’t disrupt the desired shape.

For sets with multiple pieces or intricately designed cutters, we highly recommend using fondant instead of dough. Fondant or gum paste can be rolled thinner than dough and gives you the freedom to mix any color you’d like. It can be layered over your delicious dessert for the perfect topping for your themed event.

Can I use cookie cutters
on premade cookie dough?

It’s better to go with the homemade dough when using cookie cutters. This way you can control the consistency of your dough and make any changes necessary with your ingredients. If you’re short on time, you can still use the prepackaged dough.

However, you may find this may be stickier than normal due to the preservatives they use to help the dough keep for longer. This can cause some problems when forming shapes. Be sure to coat your cutter and prepping the surface in plenty of flour to prevent the dough from sticking.

Should I spray cookie cutters?

We recommend coating your cutter in flour or powdered sugar instead of oil or cooking spray. That should ensure your dough doesn’t stick to the cutter.

Can I put
cookie cutters in the oven?

No, you can’t put our cookie cutters in the oven. We use biodegradable plastic to make our products. Their maintenance includes not exposing them to direct heat, and that’s what would happen in the oven. The idea is to get the desired dough shape first and then proceed to bake.

Can my silicone mold be used in the oven?

Yes, at no more than 375°F/190°C. Do not use the broiler with this product. We recommend placing your mold on a baking sheet while baking. Use caution when handling hot molds.

Can stencils
be used for painting?

Although some of our customers have used our products for this purpose, we cannot guarantee it. Please note that our stencils are not adhesive. In other words, you will need to hold the stencil still as you paint and the paint may bleed underneath the stencil. We also do not accept returns/exchanges for items not used for their intended purpose.

What is the difference
between embossed and imprinted
on your acrylic stamps?

If you click on the product photos of any of our acrylic stamps, the photo will zoom and below the photo, you should see a description labeling the photos as “embossed” or “imprinted”.

Embossed typically means “lifted up from” which in this case would be the fondant lifting up from the rest of the design. Imprinted typically means “pushed down into” which in this case would be the fondant getting pushed down into the design.

When you apply pressure to your stamp against the fondant, the fondant will quickly fill the spaces in the stamp that is carved out while pushing the rest of the design down. In other words, what changes from embossed to imprinted is simply the areas that are being pushed down or lifted up.

If you want a certain part of the design “lifted up” or “pushed down” and are having trouble deciphering this from the product photos, please contact us.

What is the difference
between the regular stencil
and stencil holder sizes?

Stencil holders are typically used to keep your stencil design stationary over your cookie as you decorate (either with an airbrush, icing, etc.). Our stencil holder sizes are specifically created for use with a 5.5-inch x 5.5-inch stencil holder. The design will measure 4 inches, 3 inches, 2 inches, or 1 inch while the stencil material itself will stay at the 5.75-inch x 5.75-inch measurement that the stencil holder will hold onto. Our regular-sized stencils will have the stencil material get smaller with each descending size (less excess material around the design).

If you have a specific request or font, please feel free to contact us and we’ll work on creating something for you.
